There is exactly one window of time each evening when the sky looks like this — and most people miss it. The sun has dropped below the horizon but its warmth still bleeds upward, gold and amber holding their ground against the blues pushing in from above. A crescent Moon hangs in the middle of it all, calm and unhurried, as if it has all the time in the world to watch the day lose.
Susan Gunn captured this single exposure over the Gulf of Mexico at precisely that moment — the soft clouds catching the last light, the transition already happening overhead whether the sky liked it or not. The title says everything about what this image feels like.
Jealous Skies is a print for the person who notices the sky on the drive home and wishes they could slow it down.
