Two things happened during the seconds this shutter was open. A lightning bolt fired offshore on the western edge of the storm. And a group of kids walked the shoreline with flashlights, painting a ribbon of warm light across the sand.
A single long exposure. The kids are still in the frame — they just moved faster than the shutter could resolve them, dissolving into the trail of light they carried. To the right, a single bolt fires into the Gulf beneath a wide bank of cloud lit from within. Two events captured live, in one shutter opening: the slow rhythm of footsteps along the shoreline, and the instantaneous strike that lit the horizon while they walked.
For the collector who responds to the strange and the in-between. A piece that holds a small, fearless act of youth against the scale of a Gulf storm — and lets both stand.
